Dear Maryland Lead Poisoning Prevention Commission,

I am writing because I have been trying for several months now along with other parents to have the lead in the water contamination issue adequately addressed in Prince George's County schools. Over the last year I have found out that there have been lead levels in our school water and little  has been done other than to turn off select faucets in 88 other county schools.

All of the information is now up on a local parent blog. After repeated attempts to get the situation fixed with minimal response I felt it necessary to post everything I knew about the situation.

I am asking the commission to please reach out to Prince George's County schools and offer support and how they can take next steps to develop a  fully coordinated comprehensive plan to alleviate the situation and ensure the children have healthy water.

I am CCing the Department of Health, my school board member, and the  student school board member as well as the county. I have been writing the school district for months asking for them to remediate the problem.

I would appreciate a response as to when you are next meeting and how you can help. Dr. Cliff Mitchell pointed me to the Commission. I also think that the District will need funding to put in place a solid plan and I am hopeful that there are grants availible.

Thank you so much,
Theodora Scarato
