Inaccurate Information From PGCPS in 2016 On Lead in Water Remediation Plan

Excerpt from a parents concern about responses to her questions in 2016.

In response to letters in 2016 asking about the lead contamination, the district at first stated that they were fixing the lead problem and they sent me a document titled “PGCPS Lead in Water Program” that explained a four-phase plan to fix the lead problem. See it here:

When the school district was asked to share the details of the remediation plan. They responded with another email saying that they had made a mistake.  There was no Phase Four plan moving forward!

Here is an excerpt from their response to my question.

We were shocked to learn that under federal law, the vast majority of schools don't have to test their drinking fountains, and many states and districts do not mandate water testing for their schools.  Most schools had not had water testing in years. Some schools have brown water coming from taps.

I am very concerned that many water sources are still on and yet have not been tested in six years. The county is nowstating that they are moving forward with this plan in a press release. What oversight is in place to assure safety for our children?
